Helianthus maximiliani

Native to Central US + Texas

This perennial sunflower blooms summer-fall and provides nectar for pollinators. Seeds are a favorite of birds and the spent stalks are used by solitary bees for nesting! Cut stalks back in early spring. Spreads by rhizomes and easily reseeds so put in a spot where you don’t mind letting it spread. Prefers nutrient poor soils.
