Tapteal Native Plants

Welcome to Tapteal Native Plants located in West Richland, Washington. Our aim is to help you acquire the native plants you seek for your Heritage gardens and drought tolerant landscape projects.

🌿 Exciting News from Tapteal Native Plants! 🌿

After years of nurturing native plants and building a vibrant community of gardeners, conservationists, and nature lovers, I’m thrilled to share a new chapter in our story.

Tapteal Native Plants has been purchased by Julie Wilson who owns Wild Root Landscapes. Julie is a local landscape designer and general contractor focused on sophisticated outdoor living spaces that highlight hyper-local native plants. Wild Root serves residential design clients all over the Tri-Cities.

While ownership is changing, the nursery’s roots remain strong. You’ll still find the same dedication to quality native plants, expert advice, and community connections with fresh energy and expanded services to support your outdoor projects.

I am deeply grateful for everyone’s support over the years and look forward to watching the nursery grow in new and inspiring directions.

Stay tuned for updates, new offerings, and upcoming events!

With gratitude, Ann Autrey

Why Natives?

Native plants are naturally adapted to our local climate meaning they require less inputs (water, soil amendments, time) to thrive. Not only will they save you money and time but they also provide beauty, food and fodder for native pollinators, bees, birds and local fauna. It’s the ultimate way to support and love the diversity of Eastern Washington. (Where to start)

Our Beginning

Our business started in 2017 after discovering we had to travel outside the Tri-Cities to purchase native plants for our own garden. We were inspired to create a business that makes it easier for customers to incorporate the rich landscape of various native plant species in their own yard.

Our Mission

To support the interests of gardeners in the Mid-Columbia who enjoy the unique benefits ,both economical and ecological, of native, drought tolerant plants of Eastern Washington State.

Why Tapteal?

Located near the Yakima River, Tapteal Native Plants is named for the original name of the Yakima. "Tap teel" as observed by Lewis and Clark, was one of many Native American names for the river.
